The Central Coast Cancer Council “Stars of the Central Coast”.
Four years ago, the team at Cancer Council here on the Central Coast, wanted to find a fun and exciting way to raise money to help the local cancer patients and their families from the costs of living through this horrid disease. Sarah Russell and Jayne Moloney put their heads together and came up with a “Dancing with the stars” themed event!
Why not get local identities & leaders in their field, such as politicians, small business owners, celebrities, etc, push them past their comfort zones and pair them up with local dance instructors, give them a genre to learn and then, have them perform in a spectacular gala evening for all to purchase tickets to in support of this charity dance contest!Along the way, each participant has to raise as much money as they can by hosting fundraising events, raffles, cake drives, anything they can come up with! Make it fun! Keep it interesting.

Not only that, but they also train with their teachers at least twice a week for the event and carry on in their hectic lives.
This event has become an annual spectacular, held in the Coast’s ‘Laycock Street Theatre’, in which the entirety of the Coast flock to get tickets, which sell out in a matter of hours!
Over the last four years, the team of the Central Coast Cancer Council have raised over half a million dollars just from this event alone, and they have created such a lovely feel within the community because of it. Kindness prevails where most of the event is put together by other surrounding businesses and their donations, services, time & assistance wherever they can help.
Not to mention the fabulous volunteers who always do whatever they can to ensure that this event is the huge and brilliant success that it is!
