- Choose the marriage location and the date first as they can be the most difficult to finalise.
- When choose your marriage date, start with at least three dates that you would consider.
- Choose one or two places you would like to have the ceremony and reception and book them immediately.
- Start on the wedding guest list as early as possible, this will then give people enough time to plan for your wedding.
- Pick out decorations and flower arrangements at least one month before your wedding.
- Book honeymoon travel as early as three or four months ahead, this will allow you the best .
- Prepare as much ahead of time as you can, so that you do not have a lot to do at the last minute.
- Try to get your future family involved in the decision making process on all things, this will help you to learn to work together on things.
- Do not be afraid to ask for help or designate work for others in the wedding party to do.
- Wear your shoes a couple of days before your wedding to stretch them.
- Consider a Hen & Stag night together.
- When hiring a caterer, gather your information and then pick 2 or 3 to speak to and pick the one you are most comfortable with.
- Make sure you have emergency needs such as band aids, needle and thread, asiprin, scissors, tape, shoe polish, buttons for your trail.
- Guest accommodation is very important so consider block booking well ahead.
- Let the groom have some responsibilities and they may surprise you.
- Send invitations at least 6 to 8 weeks before the big day.
- Have a backup plan for your photos if the weather is wet. Check with local hotels as some make a beautiful place for photos.
- Check with your florist to see what flowers are in season when your wedding is to be.
- Don't forget to practice with your hair and make-up a week before the wedding so you know.
